Preview: “Sametan — Don’t Tread On Me” Environmental Benefit Art Show

Environmental activist organization Pangeaseed is hosting a pop-up art show this weekend at Spoke Art in San Francisco to draw the public's attention to alarming decrease in the planet's shark population due to overfishing. On view March 29 - 30, "Sametan — Don't Tread on Me" will feature versions of the Sametan vinyl figure originally created by Tokyo-based designer Cometdebris re-designed by 50 contemporary artists. Including work by Olek, Scott Hove, Buff Monster, Jessica Hess, Shark Toof, Frank Kozik, Luke Chueh and many more, the show will raise funds for Pangeaseed's touring art show "Year of Living Dangerously," which will travel to cities in Asia in 2014 to spread this environmentally-conscious message to ares where the public's appetite for shark fin soup has had a detrimental impact. Accompanying the art exhibition will be a screening of Rob Stewart’s documentary, Revolution, at 7 p.m. on March 30 in the gallery.
