Seamus Conley creates hyperrealist paintings infused with a sense of awe and wonder. Using a cool, glowing color palette of blues and violets, Conley places mundanely-dressed protagonists into fantastical arctic landscapes, cultivating a sense of the sublime with these impossible natural wonders. With their backs turned, the men and women gaze into stunning, enchanted vistas, inviting the viewer to behold these incredible, sometimes foreboding, sights along with the characters. Conley has a solo show titled “I Think We’re Alone Now” coming up this Friday, March 8, at Seattle’s Roq La Rue. Take a look at our preview of the show below, images courtesy of Roq La Rue.
