Sam Jinks’ Frighteningly Realistic Mixed-Media Sculptures

Using silicon and human hair among many other materials, Sam Jinks creates sculptures that are almost painfully realistic. But rather than opting for pure realism, Jinks utilizes his talent for replicating facial features, protruding bones and wrinkles to create jarring works that alter the human body. Sometimes these alterations are minor, such as tattoos, and other times they are otherworldly, like in Jinks’ latest sculpture, Unsettled Dogs (above), where fox heads sit atop life-like human bodies.
