Tonight, Martha Otero Gallery in Los Angeles will open the group show “Vitruvius,” featuring the art of Gregory Euclide, James Jean, Jonathan Brand, Jacob Hashimoto, Saelee Oh, Alexander Tarrant and Eric White. Named after the Roman solider, engineer, architect and historian Vitruvius, who is thought to be the first Renaissance man, the exhibition focuses on a small group of innovative, forward-thinking artists.
Gregory Euclide’s (featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 14) mixed-media landscapes will be offset by Saelee Oh’s fantastical depictions of nature. James Jean (Hi-Fructose Vol. 15 cover artist) surprises us with a piece of delicate jewelry, Eric White serves up re-imagined, hand-drawn LP covers and Alexander Tarrant presents a facetious found object sculpture composed of Snoop Dogg’s saliva encased in a blunt.
