Opening Night: “By Way of the South, Going Home” at Guerrero Gallery

by Nastia VoynovskayaPosted on

Last Saturday, San Francisco’s Guerrero Gallery opened two group shows in their main gallery and project room, “By Way of the South, Going Home” and “Milk & Honey.” Curated by the late author, designer and curator Justin Van Hoy, “By Way of the South” represents an interesting look at how many creative minds can spring from one place of origin. Featuring the works of diverse artists ranging from Shepard Fairey to Frank McCauley to Jon Rajkovich, the show’s exhibiting artists are connected by way of the state of South Carolina and were influential colleagues and professors to Van Hoy. In the Project Room, “Milk & Honey” showcased artworks from practicing California artists featured in Van Hoy’s eponymous book including Sage Vaughn, Mel Kadel, Ben Venom and many more. Take a look at our opening night photos below.
