Digital artist and illustrator Nick Pedersen has created post-apocalyptic battlegrounds using digital artwork that are both striking and technically complex. His use of photographic images manipulated with digital technology are visually compelling. The resulting mysterious narratives are reminiscent of the Romantic style and artist Caspar David Friedrich‘s Wanderer above the Sea of Fog, 1817 and his use of nature as an expression of the sublime. Pedersen’s work typically features a lone masked figure in a vast and unfamiliar landscape. His body of work entitled Sumeru is made up of black and white imagery that have cinematic qualities. The noble animals that mill around the guardian figure in each image possess unusually dramatic postures that augment each epic narrative.
