Last Thursday, Tim Biskup (Hi-Fructose Vol. 18) opened a new solo show, “Excavation,” at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan, Italy. Citing De Kooning as a primary influence of his new direction, Biksup turns to Abstract Expressionism as a starting point. Blending high art with low brow, he mixes the ambiguous lines and shapes with a rigid, design-oriented punk rock sensibility from his early days in the Southern California punk scene.
