Currently on display at Lazarides’ Rathbone Place in London is Artists Anonymous‘ solo exhibition, “Alice’s Apocalypse.” An interdisciplinary collective that dabbles in painting, photography, installation and performance, Artists Anonymous is based in London and Berlin. Combining photography and painting techniques, the works in the exhibition depict a drug-addled dystopia haunted by childhood fantasies. Clowns, anime characters and wistful female protagonists can be found within the busy canvases, blurring the boundaries between the playful and the sinister. Interested in the idea of an afterimage, each artwork is accompanied by a double similar to a photo negative, inviting the viewer to discover new details within each piece.
