Referencing popular science fiction and Pagan rituals alike, Gene Guynn‘s portraits combine kitsch, mysticism and cinema. Encapsulating his protagonists in geometrically shaped canvases, Guynn gives his often nude human characters a sense of monumental importance, positioning them within galaxies as if their bodies form part of the constellations themselves. A disparate set of influences, like the renowned painter Lucian Frued and Star Trek alike, can be seen swirling about in Guynn’s nebulous paintings. Take a look at some images courtesy of the artist.
