Nicola Verlato’s “Zero Gravity” Opening Night

With a filmmaker's eye and a Renaissance painter's hand, Nicola Verlato (featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 11) creates paintings that are graceful yet dangerous and dymanic. For his latest solo show, "Zero Gravity" at Merry Karnowsky Gallery, the artist challenged himself to defy the laws of physics, embroiling his characters in crashes, falls and explosions worthy of a slow motion scene in an action blockbuster. Take a look at some photos from last Saturday's opening reception by Carlos Gonzalez.
