The Art of Scott Belcastro

The paintings of Scott Belcastro explode with marks that look like particles, creating the sensation of watching the forces of the universe coalesce into familiar animal shapes. Much like Aesop’s Fables, the paintings seem to speak to deep human impulses that can be described in terms of a predator-and-prey allegory. Though the animals figures are minimalist and rendered with little shading, they appear to be exploding with or taking in energy that gives the paintings a dramatic urgency.
