English illustrator Iain Macarthur (profiled in the current issue of Hi-Fructose) creates artworks that cause the eye to dart frantically, dizzying the senses with his copious yet articulate use of detail. Preferring to draw figures with no background, he mixes portraiture and nature illustrations with abstract designs that mimic the textures of textiles. The artist carries a sketchbook wherever he goes and draws the patterns he observes in his surroundings for inspiration. The realistic and the abstract melt into one another, creating a visual puzzle of different elements. For more in depth coverage of Iain Macarthur, check out the latest issue of Hi-Fructose Magazine.
