Allison Sommers – “La La Love You”
Opening this weekend at C.A.V.E. Gallery in Venice, CA, is ‘Dig for Fire’, an art show inspired by the band, the Pixies, presented in part by Thinkspace. The heros of the then burgeoning alt rock scene in the late ’80s and early ’90s, the Pixies have achieved somewhat cult status, especially overseas, the past couple decades. The Guardian once described their music as “an unorthodox marriage of surf music and punk rock”, and the wide variety of mediums, themes and styles in the upcoming show are a perfect indicator of the band’s versatility and its influence on the creative community.
