The Art of Léopold Rabus

by Ken HarmanPosted on

Léopold Rabus is aexceptionally talented Swiss painter whose work idolizes dark themesthrough vivid portraits of strange lands in the midst ofmetamorphosis. Though Swiss, Rabus’s work, to me, holds a deep senseof Southern Gothic to it. The ravaged and contorted landscapes thatsurround his dream-like figures instantly draw me back to my youthspent in the equally odd land of Mississippi and ignite memories ofghostly stories told by my father. The effect is stunning andcertainly isn’t limited to just my background – Rabus’s work strikes achord unlike others, most are certain to hear it. – Zach Tutor
