Robin William’s Rescue Party

Opening tonight at NYC’s P-P-O-W gallery is ‘Rescue Party’,a solo show of new work by artist Robin Williams. The large, atmospheric andbrightly hued oil paintings feature a cast of adolescent, pale skinnedcharacters on the cusp of adulthood. By choosing to focus on this time ofinternal metamorphosis, the characters appear otherworldly and slightly surreal as they gaze at unseenobjects or appear lost in thought, disconnected from their external landscapes.

The work also displays a vibrant kinetic energy; the subjects undertakelaborious tasks or partake in childish games such as staring contests and dressup, further illuminating the elastic veil between the lazy pleasures ofchildhood and the responsibilities of adulthood. Check out more after the jump.
