The Sculptures of Eric Eaton

Artist Eric Eaton, who recently showed with Lion Heart Gallery in Germany, creates small sculptures housed in boxed hangings, reminiscent of the collage boxes of Joseph Cornell. Each vessel contains a commentary on the current fears andanxieties of our current perilous state in the world, while echoing symbolsfrom the bible, the tarot and America’s history of slavery. Painted in layersof matte black paint with symbolic touches of white, red and gold, the darknessof each piece adds to its mysterious allure. Take a peek at more after the jump.
