The curious and melancholy paintings of Taiwanese artist Yin-Ling Hsu focus on the complex andcontradictory relationships we have with nature and each other. Arranging hercharacters in states of rest or peril, Hsu also obscures their faces suggestinga loss of identity and ability to physically express their emotions. Thispalpable vulnerability is where Hsu is most successful; one can almost feel thewounds and protection instincts of her characters as their own.
