Lisa Yuskavage at Greengrassi

Our friends over at Arrested Motion recently hipped us to Lisa Yuskavage's new show which is currently on display at London's Greengrassi gallery. Though Yuskavage's subject matter and painterly methods have not changed too much since the late '90s, her displays of technical skill, dual feminism and sexuality continue to make her a hot commodity in the market amid controversy and consistent sell out shows. Incorporating classical techniques of model sculpting (maquettes of cast hyrdocal), Yuskavage mirrors the methods of the Venetian masters, both Michaelangelo and Jacopo Tinoretto also cast models to perfectly capture composition and lighting. Her latest show consists of eighteen new paintings of various sizes, catch the entire body of work on Hi-Fructose after the jump.
